Questions, bugs, and help

Questions

  • Does Glum Buster run on Mac or Linux platforms? Unfortunately, not normally. However, some newer Mac hardware runs the game just fine in “dual boot”. Some Linux users have managed to get the game running through trickery; see the “Linux and Glum Buster” section below for suggestions.

  • What’s an “error log”? If the game crashes, in most cases a text file called an “error log” is automatically created. If this occurs, please open the error log in the Glum Buster game folder with Notepad.exe and copy/paste the contents into an email to send to the address above.

Linux and Glum Buster

  • (Please note that I don’t have access to a Linux platform, so I can’t guarantee that the following suggestions will be helpful.)
  • Some players have manually set their game screen display and found that the game runs under Wine. However, sound effects are still inaudible.
  • Open the se.tup file located in the Glum Buster game folder with Notepad.exe. (The se.tup file is automatically created the first time Glum Buster is run.)
  • Change the value to 1, then save and close the file.
  • Run the game. Cross your fingers.

Secretish stuff

  • Is there any way to tell a dangerous tale without having to tell a normal tale first? Yes. At the “Cheer up dear friend…” screen, simply press the BACKSPACE key.
  • Are there really only 275 grins to snatch up? I seem to recall finding more, myself. I think it might have had something to do with glum busting combos…
